Help me plan a 50 gallon SPS...

I am reading more and more about SPS and am thinking of making my tank into an SPS tank. I would like some type of coral to fill the spaces though.

I do not have gobs of cash to spend on this, so I am not looking to go all out.

I would like to know what you would use for a 50 gallon (30"x18"x20"), everything from lights, to water flow, to skimmer, sump and whatever else you think I should use.

Thanks!!!

i think i would use a 250w hqi with t5 actinics.as for water flow- 2 moded mjs 1200. a ams gs in your sump along with some cheato. but thats just me.

the tank you just mentioned is exactly what i have on my 60T. same foot print but 25" tall. I have a 250 Phoenix with one t5 actinic and one t5 aquablue+. euro reef CS 100 skimmer. mag 9.5 return on a SCWD and 2 SEIO 620s

This is my current tank

56G tank
30x18x24 RR barebottom display
18G sump
1x250W Aquaconnect 14K & e-ballast
ASM G-1x protein skimmer
Iwaki MD30RLT 500 gph return pump
2x6000 Tunze Stream & 7095 multi controller
Reef Fanatic ATO

If you don't want to spring for the Tunze kit, you can opt for a couple of SEIO or modded Maxijets.

Right here you go....

Still to date one of the nicest "on the cheap" setups out there, from lighting to filtration, etc. And yes, that is one of those "ugly yellow Iwasaki's" on there. Still in my opinion the best single bulb for a reef tank, especially sps. You just need a lot of supplementation to make them look nice! :)
