Help me plan my Haddoni tank

I want a tank for a nice blue Haddoni (kinda like rod has for his clowns & host anem)

I just want the Anem to be the center of attention in the tank with maybe 2 large boulder pieces of rock in the sandbed. The only fish will be my favorite clowns, no other corals or anything.

I dont want a big tank, a shallowish cube or something like a 40 breeder (center brace removed) type thing.

I have a spare 250SE I want to use for this tank. 14K light ok?

What about the flow? sugestions for a happy anem?

Its not getting setup right away... just planning right now. What would you setup?

this is my set up.

i have 300w vho, a mag 5 return pump and 2 koralia 2s. its a 20g long.

i have a ~3" deep snad bed and could use another 3-4", so think about that and definitely mix a sand with crushed coral(50/50).

the 14k should be fine for lighting.

40br has no center brace

250se is fine 14k is good for haddoni.


why not set up for a gigantea since you want to put percula in there.

Because gigantea are very very hard to take care of and i would not recommend anyone who is asking this type of question to attempt a gigantea. not a good idea imo. Also a 40breeder is going to need alot of random flow for a gigantea which would prove very hard w/out powerheads in a small 40.
Haddoni is a good idea to stick with.

A 40 breeder would work fine, they are cheap and shouldn't be to hard to set up. I would do something with a sump running around 700 gph through it and i would do two returns. Your going to want a sump to avoid powerheads in the display.
Haddoni's don't need alot of flow, light can be less, but i think the 250w halide will do well. They are also not really picky about spectrum,so for a bulb, i would go with whatever you like and want for your display. If your going with a blue carpet, 20 k bulbs would really make it look good i think.
I would do about a 3 inch sand bed where the Haddoni will be sitting, I'm not a big fan of deep sand beds so thats all i have ever done, and only where the Haddoni lives, less sand everywhere else.
Your going to want a good skimmer, as feeding Haddoni's requires a pretty good bio load. I don't know if you plan on running a sump but i would because it avoids having to add extra powerheads or flow.

Right, I want an easy anem... not something thats survival is supper iffy
I also think gigantea will outgrow a smaller tank way to soon. Are they not the largest... hince the name? (& I'm not willing to shell out $500 for something that iffy)

I do not want powerheads in the tank so yes it will be drilled. I was thinking one of those switching current jobs plumbed in... but I hear they cut down on GPH very bad (hince the reason I never tried one on my sps nano) do Haddoni's like lots of flow? I know random is a given... but strong?

I have a CSS 65 on my 20 & love it, I was going to get another one for the Anem tank.

I do like the deep sand bed look so I as going for 4-5 inches, 3/4 southdown & alittle larger grain mixed in.

no center brace on a 40... I'm losing my mind then... oh well... I think 40 it is

Haddoni's do not need alot of flow, random is okay, but strong flow is not needed at all.
