Help Me Stock My 12 Gallon

Have a 12 Gallon Aquapod and looking for some stocking ideas

Here's a little about the tank

70w 14,000k Metal Halide
Aquaclear 70 Refugium, filled with Chaeto
Aquaclear 50 filled with Chemi Pure Elite
Kent Nano 2 Part Supplement
Weekly Dosing of Vitamin C. Brightwell Aquatics
Weekly 2 gallon Water changes with RO/DI


Zoanthid Dominate Tank
1 Crocea Clam
1 Rose Bubble Tip Anemone
2 Emerald Crabs
2 Peppermint Shrimp
3 Onyx Nassarius Snails
2 Turbo Snails
1 Astrea Snail

I'm looking for some simple suggestions, and some activity through all levels of the tank

1 Currently have one ULTRA aggressive Black Ocellaris, who attacks my large emerald crabs, chases the peppermint shrimp, and bites my hand and fish net whenever I'm doing maintenance, so He is living in the overflow, until I offer him up for sale, or something. He is doing well.


If you could provide me with some recommendations, Looking for around 3 fish, that add activity, color and personality.


Your experience with these fish as Well as Pictures Would be greatly appreciated

Red firefish and a pair of ORA Naked Clowns would look awesome.

purple firefish, neon goby, and a YWG or high fin banded goby.

goby and pistol shrimp for lower activity and a pair of clowns picassos are my faves bu they be pricey lol

Why are you using AC filters?! Just stock the cheato and chemi-pure in the back chambers, it works the same plus looks a thousand times better.

Just a side off from the stocking. What exact 70w halide are you running.
I appreciate the help if you would share.

I'm using the ac filters because I like them?

They work fine, i'm running the 70 with a 50 impeller, to slow the flow, I always heard chaeto does best with some free movement, but thats besides the point, It does the job just fine to me, adds some water volume... that and i think the chemipure gets more flow in the actual filter than the back chambers.

I'm running the regular Current USA 70w..
Had a Ushio but it burned out in 4 months...POS...spectrum was ok, kinda white for my taste
I really like the spectrum of the 70w current light.

as far as stocking, I'm thinking a

Fridmani Dottyback (had a neon, and loved the activity, movement, he excavated caves through rocks ect. ***arn't they less likely to kill and eat shrimp****

and possibly a cherub angelfish (again, love the activity of angelfish, but i'm worried about the clam) Had a baby potters 1.75" in it last year, before he was moved to a 65

I too would be worried about the angel. IMO, I wouldnt risk it. they are hard to get out (recently removed my rusty angel because I wanted more fish).

IMO, if you want a dottback, get a small orchid dottyback. if it were me, I would also get a pair of percula clowns for the nem as well.

Well I'm somewhat hesitant to reintroduce my black ocellaris, he is simply too aggressive, as i stated earlier, he attacks my large 2" emrald crab... he beats him with his tail, dive bombs ect...

I'm prob gonna have to swap him for another one, I think being in a small tank with an anemone only makes him more territorial...

the fridmani dottyback is most likely a definate, although I would def like a Pygmy angel.

the beer can is typical of college life, and an effort to recreate the ocean in the dormitories lol...

its aluminium, and from a couple different sources, supposedly safe in a saltwater aquarium. Anyone with any further knowledge?

You cannot do the Catalina your tank needs to be around 65-70 way too cold for your animals.
