Hi reefers

I broke one of the tips of my cali tort a month ago....some days latter I noticed a kind of yellow slim over the broked part of the colony...it seems like a algae...I must confess that I don´t pay too much atention for that ...but now...this yellow slim thing...is over other parts of the branch...and I´m concerned about my acropora...

I used one toothbrush to clean this branch...but a day after that the slim returns!!!! But I note that a relative large piece are already dead!!!!

What is this yellow slim??? What should I do???

I try to get a pick...but the position of the colony and my camera don´t cooperate.

in red the yellow areas (algae????) it isn´t a flatworm!! before someone ask me...:-)
in green dead tissue...

Thank´s a lot and I´m sorry for my bad english

D.

i can't see anything...sorry...also that doesn't look anything like my Cali Tort.

Either way if you have some Coral RX i would dip the colony and make sure all your readings are stable...check salinity..

I suspect you are seeing algae taking hold on areas that are dead and skeleton is exposed.

It really does not look like a Cali Tortuosa to me as well, but that could just be it's growth and coloration pattern.

I would check your parameters, nitrate and phosphates and possible increase flow in the direction of the coral.

Good Luck

looks like a slimer. when you break, or frag parts its will ooze slime some more than others dont touch it it will stress it more. is it bleached or doing anything crazy in the area....kinda hard to see in your pic. google yellow slimer and you will learn somethings about your piece.
