Calappidae
Harlequin Shrimp
I have a large peacock mantis. He was living in a 30 gallon with a nice cave. All the fish in my 29 reef started dropping like they were dying from a contaminent. So inorder to save them I had to put them in his tank.. naturally we all knew what would happen mixing him with the fish.. so I got the log decoration he was living in (instead of pvc) and I moved him in a 24lx9hx5w. (6.6 gallon).. he fits in there as far as keeping him short term... but I have a problem... worst timing ever.. he decides to molt! I just turned my head and saw him moving like a worm and this red shell around his face right outside the cave.. he has nothing to close-up with.. the tank water quality was over everyday except for last night (added instant ocean bio-spira). Hes been eating frozen krill, and deli clams to hit on. he's approx 6 inches in length. had him since april. He looks strange and deformed but I understand thats should be normal.. for explain the antennal scales appear yellow on both sides rather than on top. I covered around the entire tank setup with black paper and put sheets on all the windows to make the room completely dark for him since he couldn't make a dark room himself. Whats worst is that his log has a hole at the top of it, it was fine in the 30 as everything was surrounded in rock. What should I do? should I feed him check on him how long should this last please help!
