Well I got home and noticed half of my candy apple flesh is black or white... What is going on? the zoanthids around it are fine with the exception of some that are closed cause a pom pom crab just stepped on them.

did anything fall on them?
Ive had this bruised look on some of mine before after a rock had fallen on them

nothing that I know of. I think he should recover right? Turned on light today and 75% of him is open and the scarred part is kind closed in

Sorry to hear that. Have you noticed anything irritate it or bother it at all. Some sort of zoanthid predator may be preying on your zoanthids. You may want to take a flashlight at night and see if anything is bothering it. That's just my advice though. Hope your candy apple recovers!

Well good new is it seems to be recovering pretty fast. But still dont know what cause it, no predator that I know of, the anemone on the pom pom crab would be too small to do any real damage... I've seen him rub his anemone on my Bam Bam zoas before without any effect. The other two predator is my sexy shrimps.... but they're well fed and never venture farther than the Acro that they consistently cling to

Alk is 9

yup they look irritated in that picture, I blame my pom pom since he was in the area couple seconds ago.. causing my other zoas in the background to close up

Have any of your zoas took a form of a bell shape? If so did they do it a lot?
Also I had that happen before I was Kalk'n for GSP (which worked) and notice a few got on the zoas.

My 2 1/4" blenny loves to post on top of my devils armour colony... for long stretches. No issue nor irritation showed by the polyps. This most likely has more to do with something going on with your water/parameters. or at the least the anemone's from your pom poms hands. but it should be ok and color should come back and look normal with in weeks.

Really? whenever my Sexy Shrimp go to get pellets that I dropped, they step over my bam bam zoas and they always close. My wheeler goby perch on my Ring-o-Fire Zoas (before he jumped out) also and they never close.

Livingcorals - What do you mean by "bell shape"?

there's 2 new polyp since this picture... one I can already see colors when it opens and the other still budging up. So hopefully that means they arent stress

more irritation most likely to the pompoms... My large blue knuckles always rummage around the polyps... they close for a while and reopen when the BK is gone.

If you take the center part of the zoa and push it up some. It would form a bell having the center being the top. Almost as if there point up to the light.
