Help my Trigger please

Hi all, unfortunately after adding a couple fish over two months my blue throat trigger has developed a growth of somesort on the base of his fin. I have a couple pictures(sorry I couldn't take better pics, I was using cellphone) I'm hoping this is something that isn't catching and will show up on all my other fish.

Does anyone know what this is and how to treat it? I'm very concerned and not sure if something came in with the new fish(healthy fish with no symptoms) or maybe just the stress of being chased around by my tusk? My tusk has bit him a couple times and left scars.

Here are the pics and we both would REALLY appreciate any input. I can probably try harder for better pics if they aren't good enough but I'm hoping that it's common and obvious to someone here. Thanks again.

I am pretty sure that I saw this kind of growth on my current blue throat trigger over a month ago. It looked kind of like cartilage over the joint where the fin attaches to the body. I wasn't sure what it was, and he didn't seem to be adversely affected by it, so I just made sure he wasnt looking bad, ate well, and didn't get picked on, and over a couple days, it disappeared. Its possible that its a disease specific to Blue throat triggers, as it was only my trigger that got it, but I think its more likely that its something like a bird shedding its feathers. This is pure speculation though, and is founded only by the fact that he easily overcame it, only he had it, and it didn't affect him at all.
Still, I would definitely watch the tusk and trigger. As long as the trigger doesn't exhibit other major damage, look unhealthy in some other way, and as long as he is eating well, he should be fine.

I'm very glad for that information. Like yours, mine is strong as ever and VERY confident despite the tusk constantly trying to make sure he's on top. I think the only reason the tusk is threatened is because the trigger is so strong and healthy.

I just fed them and the trigger was perfectly fine and normal, eating as much as he possibly could. Tusk makes him move but he refuses to hide. Strong as ever and very fast. He doesn't seem to notice anything is wrong.

In fact I would swear that the white splotches are smaller today. I'll keep an eye on it of course and update if things take a turn for the worse but your post really helped. Hoping he'll just overcome it like yours did.

My tuskfish has had it. They go away some may reappear. I thought he broke somthing. Like you sad looks like bone. He will be fine. I use marine max by tropical science. It is great stuff for all around preventive health. And it's reef safe treatment for parasites and cysts ect.
