Yesterday it was still working fine. Today the pump is dead. I took it apart ( cover, impeller) and soaked everything in vinegar for 4 hours and completely cleaned it out but it still doesn't work. When i plugged it in, i could hear a humming sound for few seconds, then it stopped and nothing. I even used a toothpick to move the impeller while it was plugging in hopping it would start spinning ( submerged in water ) but no help. Pump is a year old and i don't know if it's still under warranty. Any help is appreciated.

thanks,
Cuong

It has a two year warranty, you would need to contact the Canadian distributor. From what you describe it sounds like something minor, check the upper bearing and also check the magnet for cracks.

Thanks for reply. The pump looks good over all with no signs of cracking or anything. The only thing that came off is the sticker on the back which came loose while it was in vinegar bath for hours.
I bought it used from another reefer after he had it for ~7 months, plus 5 months under my possession, and i don't think he gave the the original receipt when i bought it. Would you know who/address of the Canadian Distributor of Tunze and would they do it if i have no receipt :( ?

The pump has a production date and the warranty is 2 years from that date. The distributor is Xenia and they can be reached at www.giesemannlicht.com From what you describe either the bearing is stuck, or the magnet is broken, I would suggest double checking the break down and cleaning procedures in the manual. If a pump hums or vibrates, it is getting power and just has a simple broken or stuck part.
