Help my with this sick clam

Iodine is used to give corals dips to clear them of infections, if this is the case why not try that instead of putting the clam in FW which can cause more harm. I have giving my clams iodine baths in the past and when ever i get a new clam in just to make sure it does not carry infections into my systems, including my quarintine tank.

i didnt' know you were gonna give it a bath at all, if that was the case then i would have i am sorry i didn't but for some reason it must have slipped by me.
I use two quarts of water to 5 drops of lugols solution and give it a 10-15 minute bath, depending on the size of the clam.

Where have YOU been all this time?
I think Clams are sensetive to iodine.
I have experience with Seachem's Reef Dip with CORALS ONLY and had some excellent results.
Never thought of trying it on Clams.
I dont have good experience with FW dip in case of pinched mantle disease, and my feeling is that pinched mantle disease is a symptom that have more than one cause, that also explains why FW dips are helping in some cases and in other have no effect.
What do you think Minh???

If you have Pinched Mantle Disease, FW dip should work. I am sure there are other clam diseases out there. Irretated clams will retracted their mantle. PMD is only one specific disease. I tryed to describe the condition as best as I can in various posts.
If your clams did not response, and if you dip adequately, then you should consider other cause and other treatment.
Do you have picture of your clams somewhere, especially when they were early in the disease course?

The FW dip did not work for my clams. I have 2 maxima's and a crocea. The maxima's looked a little better but the crocea looks worse everyday. I don't think I have loguls iodine, can I use something else or a coral dip, and if so what concentration and how long? I'll get some at work tomorrow, I work at thatfishplace so they should have something I can use.
PS, I saw the 10-15 minutes and 5 drops but is all iodine pretty much the same concentration?

Look for Seachem's reef dip, it's great for corals.
Never tought of using it for Clams cause I thought they dont really like iodine, but Julio now says that it helps his Clams, so ya might wanna consider.

Those are mine.
Pic was taken under no light at all, they are in a plastic container on the floor while I took out their rocks for cleaning.
But the Tear Drop is not the one to look at, the one to look at is on the right.
You can get color TD on the web quite often now.
