Help My Yellow Watchman Goby!

Help Please! We brought home our new yellow watchman goby yesterday, I have been watching him for a couple of weeks at the lfs and he looked great! I acclimated him with the bag trick as it was only a 20 min. drive and I know he was indeed quarantined at the shop. He has red in his tail and below one eye, it looks like it might be blood pooling in those area's I have no idea what has happened or happening.

We have a 90 gal with the following 4 Chromis, 2 percula clowns, 1 cleaner shrimp. All water perameter's are good, no nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, PH is 8.3, calcium 400, no phosphates, temp is 80.

I have not witnessed any of the fish trying to take him out. Would it be possible that he tried to jump and hurt himself? I have eggcrate on the top as I new they were jumpers.

Please help if you can:(

Is there any way you can post a pic? That way we can see what you are talking about.
How is the YWG acting? You didn't notice this at the LFS?

He was fine at the LFS, can't take a picture as he is now hiding. I noticed he was hanging out near the overflow. Could he have got sucked up against the eggcrate on the overflow? Then the stress to escape caused the redness? I also noticed that his lip was beat up a bit as well. I am reaching here... I'm new at this...

I would keep an eye on him for a few days. If he's not imporving, you might want to QT him. Perhaps he is just adjusting to your tank? I have never experienced anything like this with my YWG.
Keep trying to get a pic.
As long as he is eating I wouldn't be worried.
Keep us updated.

Good Luck.

Yes, fish have a remarkable ability to recover even in the worst cases. Maybe he just beat himself up a little bit. Only time can tell.

It could be a bruise. Watch out for white cottony growth, too. If that happens, he'll need treatment.

Day 3, he is now hiding in a small cave in the live rock. He has not come out to eat or anything... I saw his tail and it looked better, no redness, but can't see his head. Should I just wait it out? or is there something else that I can do?:worried:

I would say that perhaps he is just adjusting to your tank still. As long as he looks fine, i would let him be and just keep trying to get him to eat.

Great News, the little guy is out and about:dance: He looks good, I will try to feed soon, he looks like he is foraging about so he is probably hungry:D

Thanks for your support!

food is the best medicine - do what you can and try and make sure your overflow isnt sucking to hard - i had one powerhead that used to love to suck fish in - got rid of it

I have not ever seen my YWG. I put him in a month ago, I only see his head poking out of his house watching all the time! Is there a way to get them out more?
