Help needed - UPVC vs PVC questions

I'm adding a custom sump to my reefer 250. The pipes say upvc which isn't common in the US. To plump the tank I need to know if I can join pvc to upvc and will regular pvc solvent work with it?

You can't join the two together since one is for water supply lines in a house, the other is for drain lines. One is yellow PVC and one is white correct? The sizes won't match up even is you go from 3/4" yellow to 3/4" white. Just ran into this when I put in my water softener and whole home filtration. They recommend different glue for for each too

No. They are gray. These are the plumbing for the Red Sea Reefer 250. They say UPVC on them. I researched and it says it is unplasticized PVC but still don't know what I can join with as far as solvent. UPVC is much more popular in UK and Europe from what I've read. I don't want to be wrong because space is limited to start cutting! I emailed Red Sea customer service, but they didn't respond to two messages

Surely someone has put in a different sump with the Reefer series and had to join UPVC with something. Any ideas or experience from anymore?

Same adhesives work equally on both. However, I think the pipes on your Red Sea are metric (they are on my Elos). You will need an adapter if you're not going to use metric PVC for your mods. CoralVue sells the adapters if you need them.

I just got back from Lowes. They are metric! Ugh. I think I will check out those adapters so I can source things locally. Thank you Mark.

Just get them on Amazon honestly. You can get them in 2 days and you won't need to run all over town or call every plumbing supply in a 50 mile radius. :D

I believe you're thinking of CPVC.

I wish the US would just convert to metric already so crap like this wouldn't be an issue anymore. It would probably make the price of socket sets a lot cheaper as well since you'd only need the metric side.

HAha yes that is exactly what I was thinking of. Something needs to give but us Mericans won't ever convert to metric... Thats for them Europeans! ( plus it would be too easy)

I propose a trade. I'll gladly convert to metric. I'll even drive on the wrong side of the road, but when speaking English, everyone has to go by the American pronunciations. None of this Aluminium and Jag-u-er nonsense, and they're called cookies, not biscuits.

Also, Asian words and names are to be spelled phonetically when written in English. I've heard attempted explanations before, but you'll never convince me that an X making a "sh" sound makes sense.
