Looks dyed. But it may be legit so move it to the sand if it will easily detach. If not, let it find its own home.

It's not dyed. That is a natural color for the base of a gigantea. Usually they would rather be in a rock crevice.

However, that anemone is not in good shape and probably won't make it much longer without some medical help. Find one of the gig treatment threads on this group and do what they are doing.

Please be sure to do plenty of research and make a fully informed decision next time before buying livestock, especially anemones. Too many stores are poorly informed themselves and/or only interested in making a sale--caveat emptor! Good luck.

Good luck with him. You got an uphill battle on your hand. Treat him quickly and he may have a chance to recover. This species, S. gigantea, is the hardest host anemone to get healthy and keep.

That is a gig, but as Minh said you have an uphill battle.... There's plenty of information on the boards here if you are dedicated enough to bring him back to health.

From the picture, it does not look promising. Move it to the sand bed near some rocks and dig a hole to put the base in. It will move around on it's own until finding a good spot. Usually at the base of some rocks.

Please do not misinform as these nems prefer rock and not sand.

I would personally QT it and treat it ASAP... Uphill battle for sure.

Good luck

Thanks to Minh started treatment in a QT tank and we will see what happens I'm definitely hopping for the best... Hopefully he is a fighter..

Thank you for posting this. It was kind of a brave thing to do.

People need to know that even though Minh and others are pioneering some ways to medicate gigs, they are still very difficult and the treatments aren't always going to work. It is still an anemone for experts only.

+1... You gave it a fighting chance..
