I'm no expert but a nano tank I would not recoment for your first tank. Have you ever had a tank (salt or fresh) before ?? The smaller tanks are harder to maintain then the larger tanks. I'd suggest to do some more reasearch and get a larger tank for your first one. My 1st (salt) tank was a 29.
You can get a 'guestimate" on pricing online at many places ... Dr's Foster's and Smith for example ... but don;t forget your local LFS !!! :)

umm i think i saw a 10gallon for about 10 bucks at wall mart m8t use that as my sump umm how much money did u waste on ur 29 gallon?? or i m8t do is have a 10 gallon with a 10 gallon sump im going to do a reef tank with 2 clown fish and a clean up crew

Dude ... Don't mean to be and as$ ... but how about some punctuation some spelling ;) (lol)

I would not put the clowns in a 10 gallon (even with the sump). It's just not a big enough tank.

Me ... I just can't recommend a 10 for a first salt tank.

A 10g is plenty big enough 4 a pair of clowns.Do fish only with live rock to start out.Read through this forum,& u will learn alot. The key word is paitence.

I agree with expidetion ... the 10 is big enough for a pair of clowns. I've had breading pair in 10 gallons before ... I would just not suggest a 10 g. for some that is starting out.

EX had more words of wisdom also !!! Read thur the forums !! TONS of great info here, and also paitence !!!! Wish I'd had that with my firt tank ;)

sorry about spelling and what not only known engalish for a copel of years ya i do plan on starting fish only but would like to have a reef set up lol iv been reading for about a copel weeks umm the only resone i dont buy anything bigger is that i dont have the 800 bucks to buy a tank since im only 16 and work part time

i got 3 tanks & still have my first a 10g aga $7.00,thats now worth a small fortune because its full with sps.

I would have to disagree regarding housing two Clownfish in a 10 gallon tank. Even 1 Clownfish is pushing it for a 10 gallon tank. After you add sand and live rock to the tank you have much less water volume to work with. Not to mention maintaining good water quality with that high of a bioload. For a 10 gallon I would go with a small Goby such as a Clown, Neon, Masked, Trimma, Greenbanded, Red Head, etc. For some ones first saltwater tank I would recommend at least a 20 gallon while a 30 gallon or larger is better.

These are just my opinions. :)

Save the money .. Do the reasearch and by a larger tank. Paitence is the key here. You can get all the prices you need online.

Skip the nano and take some english/grammar lessons first.

maby u should read before making smart comments

I got pics all over this forum somewhere,no full tank shots of the sps tank.Thats top secrete 4 now.Im gonna try 4 nano of the month in about 3 more months.I will post some sneak peek pics tomorrow on this thread ok.

Florida, ignore non-constructive criticism :)

I would say 300-500 is a good starting budget for a nano-reef. Be aware that going cheap means less automation and more work for you to do things manually. If you can though, I'd save up as much money as possible.

thx ex umm how much would a 20 or 30 gallon tank run me for?

A 20 or 30 is better because its more stable, but if your workin P.T a 30g could very possibly break the bank.
