It was all clogged up and I just cleaned it. Now it absolutely, positively WILL NOT siphon. I'm losing my patience as you can tell. I have a small pump connected to the top, and no matter how much water I pour into the back, it will not get rid of the air pocket. Any tips or suggestions?

Slide a peice of airline tubing up one end of the tube until it is top dead center inside the siphon tube. Then you use the tubing to suck out the air pocket until the shiphon starts. Just make sure both ends of the siphon tube are submerged when you do this or you're going to be there a lot longer than you need to be.

If you want to get real tricky you can drill a hole in the top dead center of the tube and glue in one of those plastic airline valves so the next time you will need only stick the tubing on the valve instead of threading it in from the end like a catheter.
