Help please, problems with new Tunze 7096

Hi,

I just bought a new 7096 controller with two 6105 stream pumps. I've had it programmed and running in my tank for 1 week now. The first day I programmed it and installed the pumps in my tank, everything was okay for about 1 hr and then the pumps just stopped running and stayed off for about 10 minutes until I unplugged the pumps from the controller and plugged them back in. Then they started up again on the pulse interval I'd programmed. About an hour later, the same thing happened and I had to disconnect them and reconnect them in the same way to get them running again. That really worried me as there seemed to be no cause for it.

I worked all week long and when I cam home at night the pumps seemed to be working okay. Now it is Saturday afternoon and I came into the room and the pumps are not running again, and I had to disconnect/reconnect them to get them to work. Each time this has happened, there's been no sign of a power outage--nothing blinking and everything else running fine in the house.

I'm thinking I may have purchased a bad unit--do you agree? Can I have the pumps running full bore without a controller (assuming I need to return it in order to receive a replacement)?

Please advise, and if this is a problem with the 7096 unit please tell me and I will get something different to replace it with.

Thanks,

Jan

Are you sure that the photocell is not somewhere where it is exposed to darkness or possibly mounted upside down? This could be night mode coming on. Are you sure that the foodtimer button isn't being pushed accidentally or possibly by a small child or pet? Foodtimer would also do this.

I have never encountered this before. If it is truly the unit and not something with installation we would replace it under warranty. The pumps will run with no controller and you can adjust the flow by turning the knob on the connection box, but the power must be turned back up to 100% before reconnecting a controller.
