Help Please - Protein Skimmer Set Up

I have an AquaMaxx ConeS Q2 in-sump protein skimmer that I cannot get to work correctly. Regardless of how I adjust "Quick-precise adjusting value" the water will either gush out of the top of the collection cup or flow over the top at a slower rate, filling the collection cup with water.

Do I simply need to place the protein skimmer on something to raise it higher in the sump? Will that keep the water level at the desired level so that only the frothy bubbles actually enter the collection cup and it won't fill with water? Or is there another fix that I haven't considered?

Place it in 7" of water. What's the water level now? You should be able to dial the "gate valve", that little knob at the top of the tube, to limit the amount of water intake. In your case turn it to the left to open it up as much as possible until the water stops overflowing. You can also pull out the little rubber tube letting the water flow out the bottom until you get things dialed in, then replace it.
