Water parameters are very important (test kits like stated should be bought before any fish or corals). What about the water temperature and make sure your water change is also the same temp.

Is the fish breathing fast? Did you ever test the pH?

There could be so many things wrong, but without knowing your water quality it's too difficult to even guess.

How long have you had the tank up and running? Did you cycle it before adding fish? How are you preparing your water? Do you have an RO/DI or using tap water? If Tap, how are you removing the chlorine? If you are a fish only tank, I would start by just testing Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate. If you have either of the first two you may need to cycle the tank longer. You should be able to pickup any of these three tests at any fish store. Get a high pH kit as well.

Ammonia, Nitrite and Chlorine are Deadly to fish, so its possible high levels of any of these killed your fish. Nitrate is bad at high levels.

i would find a new place to buy your fish, and then never ask anyone anything but how much for that fish. anything else refer to someone on here fist, im new to this hobby and because of everyone on her i already have 2=3 years worth of knowlege thank RC MEMBERS

Well I would try to go get those test kits today because my guess is your tanks a little crazy right now and I don't think your water levels will be too good.

ihave a ph test & it wsant to clear on how to use it. all it said was to fill the vial with 5ml of water add 5 drops of ph & swirl for 10 seconds. the color chart has yellow at 7.4 to dark blue at 8.6 if i did it right my tank water was in between 7.7 &8.0 it didnt tell me what color it should be. why was there a syrenge in ther whats that for. & even if high or low what is the steps for that. i just lost my new fish now. thats 100.00 worth of fish. i could of already had all the testers. but its not the money, im just going by the lfs he said all i have is fish & i buy ro & sw. so all i need to test is ph. that test was 14.00. i would of got the combo pack but he didnt seem to think i needed it. what does it mean if the fish is breathing hard? someone ask that earler & i will be watching for that.

Test kits aren't cheap if you want to buy alot but some brands offer a master test kit which is the one I buy and you save a little buying those. Fish can breath hard for many reasons. Your water levels could be bad, not enough oxygen, or hes stressed or got fritened by something.

well last night i did see my yellow tang breathing hard and getting lite yellow instead of bright yellow. i did do a 10g water change today his colors back but he keeps looking for the 3 missing fish. he looksso lost, hes even trying to play with the blood shrimp.what color do i look for on my ph or number.

I would encourage you to not get another pH kit but go all out and get a pH probe. It allows you to be able to track your pH at any time. A huge help.

Breathing fast could be anything. Without knowing your water quality it's too tough to even guess and not knowing what kind of pathogen might have killed them.

Don't get any more fish for a while that's for sure. And please learn a valuable lesson from this, to always QT your fish. 6-8 weeks.
