I killed ALL that Coral!
So I am tired of taking tank pictures with my iPhone under radiums that all turn out blue. I understand I need to be able to manually adjust the white balance to overcome this.

I have no real interest in photography other than taking pictures of my tank and I'm not real interested in getting deep into another hobby.

Please recommend an older camera that would fill my coral pictures need. I'd like to find an older one on CL. If cameras are anything like aquarium lights they don't hold value once a new one comes out :)

Thank you!!!

Pretty much any DSLR will be able to work for you. Just make sure it will shoot in RAW format. Lenses might add a little more to your budget though. There are a few point & shoots that shoot in RAW though. The Canon G series comes to mind.

Look for a camera that can capture images in "raw" format (as opposed to just jpeg). This will give you far more flexibility in correcting any color balance issues. Fortunately, this is becoming much more common in not only the higher end cameras, but many of your basic point and shoot cameras. If you're not interested in learning any more than you have to about photography, I'd go with something along the lines of a Canon G-series camera (many other companies make similar models) instead of a full-up DSLR. Another thing to look for as a "nice to have" would be a camera with a hot shoe mount (i.e. a mount on top of the camera for attaching a separate flash). This will allow you to actually use the flash for close-up photography by getting it further away from the lens, thus eliminating the issue of the lens catching the reflection of the flash off the glass.

As far as recommendations, I'm currently own a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX7K which I really like. I use it primarily for landscape photography when I don't want to haul my DSLR with me. I haven't used it for aquarium photography, but I think it would perform well, though you may want something with a bit more zoom for close-up photography.

Thanks for the input. I just got a Sony Nex 5N for under $200 on eBay. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Seems to between a high end point and shoot, but not a full up dslr either. I hope it will be a good balance.
