help please

You have an air leak someplace. Did you just service the filter? May some air got trapped in it or it is sucking air from someplace

its a canister filter magnum 350 and the part inside the tank where water goes back into the tank every couple minutes it blows for about a minute just pure bubbles and then it stops for another minute and does it again

We need much more information: go to the My RC button, fill out info re your system, size, type of sump/tank/pump/skimmer, everything you've got connected to it. If you don't have all that gear, say what you do have and we'll start from there. Everyone trying to help you looks at your sig line and hopes for that info.

Is there a gasket on that filter top? Could you have a grain of sand stuck in it? it's sucking air during its cycle.

shut your filter down. Unjook everything. Open the top off and reseal it. Reconnect all fitting. Then plug it back in.

no air leak that i know of......i used to have an air stone in the tank but i took that out tonight. someone told me it is not necessary. but no filter service or anything like that. I am clueless as to where this is coming from

Only two things i can think of maybe 3. 1 You have air trapped in it and eventually it will all work it self out. 2 You have a leak someplace that is allowing air in. 3 You have not serviced the filter in such a long time that it is producing some kinda gas that is building up until it reaches the impeller and getting pushed into the tank. Either way the only fix is to investigate it until you discover what is causing it.

My RC is now updated everyone....sorry about that....new here.

It has been a while for the filter to be cleaned and media changed......i will be looking into this tomorrow. I just wanted to make sure that it is not harming my fish and coral.

if you have a CANISTER filter then your piping /hosing job has an air leak.

it could also be because the canister has air trapped in it but this shouldnt last long to get rid of...chances are that you have an air leak somewhere in your piping.

i have two canisters on mine this has hapenned before normal operation and then millions of bubbles everywhere...and yes it turned out to be an air leak.

no sadly you need to redo it. usually the leak is so small you wont EVER notice it as i have let mine run like that for a month to see if it works its own self out.

what i would do if i were you is this. as a last chance before taking the piping apart.

power off your canister(s)

close the intake on it...and push the priming button 3-4 times and then keep it pressed down while closing the output.

disconect your canister ...empty all the water out.

connect it back up and ONLY open the INTAKE...give it a few seconds and then open the output...youll see massive bubbles come out as your canister is filling with water.

as its BUBBLING pump it a fdew times aswell and then plus it in or power it on.

if you still see bubbles after 30 minutes it is DEFFINATELY your piping and it MUST be redone.

for me to get rid of this problem i did this.

EXCUSE THE MESS IM IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING THAT TANK INTO ITS OWN ROOM AND INSTALLING A SUMP FOR IT.

as you can see its not the neatest thing but in 6 months its worked like a charm...no noise no bubbles no problem...

90% chance however is it is an air leak so good luck with it and let us know how it works out.

Good. I had this occur the other night on a fluval404 I use to run a uv. It did not go away and turned into a very slow water leak. The O ring on the canister was not set properly. As noted above removing the top and resealing will usually fix this. I also wet down th O ring with pure silcone.
