help! porcelain crab attacked clownfish!

he tried to host the anemone and the porcelain crab clawed him. i dont know how long he had him in his claws but when i walked up, i pulled the clown out. now, he looks horrible beat up and cant barley swim against the current. he twitches and just looks like he was bent a little. will he make it? i cant catch him to QT him wich i think is a good sign. any advice? how could this happen? oh, and i tried to catch the porcelain crab but accidently ripped of a claw. will it come back with a molt? and how do i get him off the anemone and out of my tank?

The clownfish and anemonecrab are competing for the same host so they are squabbling. IMO it is best to take the crab out, and yes the claw will grow back with the next molt.

he didnt "squabble" the clownfish looks like its going to die to me. neither of the clownfish have actually hosted the anemone

If the clownfish decide to take up residence in the anemone than there is a chance they will fight. What you saw was the anemonecrab keeping the fish out of his real estate. Take a read here http://www.karensroseanemones.com/theanemonecrab

Best thing to do is cross your fingers, if you think he may die. Nothing you can do now.

Do you have a Latez clown or clowns. At $500 a piece (according to DFS), I'd want them no where near my prized possessions.

i cant do anything to the crab without hurting the anemone. he would rip the anemone in half if i was pulling on him

It can't be lured away by food? I read they eat anenome mucas, mainly.

he will never leave it. it eats its waste and ittl take huge pieces of shrimp out of its mouth wich ****es me off. somones my anemone will ball up and all the tentacles will be contracted and i guess ill use that oppurtunity to grab him

ha i do have the latz but that goes for any clowns. i like clowns a lot more then crabs. and romsoccer, take tweezers and but them around the crab and squeez it sounds cruel but i would rather loose the crab then the clowns. especially now that the clown is hurt. it's easier for the crab to kill it if the clown decides to try and host again.
