HELP! Possible PM... need advice on dip procedure

Howdy, folks.

I think I might have a case of PM on my hands, per my thread linked below. I'm making up some RO/DI water in anticipation of a dip, but need to know a few things before I go ahead.

Obviously, I need to bring the RO/DI water up to tank temperature. Do I add anything to the water? Do I completely immerse the clams? How long should I leave them in for... I read 30 minutes, but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

The white stuff you see in this photo is actually coming out of the excurrent siphon, and it looks like there are little elongated black specks in there, with it.

I managed to use my turkey baster to suck some of it out and it turns out it's a white mucous, but for the little specks that seem like detritus of some sort.

What the F is going on here?!?!?!

Hmmmm... I always remembered long stringy soft stuff, not this solid pellet form. Or, have they always just had "the runs" and I didn't know it?

Do you think there's any coincidence between this, the gaping and some mantle retraction?

lol, the long stringy dark suff is zoox.

if your lights were stuck on the clams would need to dump some zoox. clams need to shut down and process the food there zoox make for them. if your lights were stuck they will start getting rid of them. im being redundant :) fix your lights and relax a little

Sorry about the hyperventilating. Just that while I was away, I got a call from my family saing that there was a "funny smell" in the tank area. Nobody could identify what that smell was, so I'm understandably concerned. I had visions of a powerhead burning out, or some other disaster.

Well, at least the water change didn't hurt anything, I suppose. :D

my comment about relaxing was for your reassurance :). dont make any rash decisions. if your lights were left on for that long your clam will react like they are. just watch them for now and get things back to normal and they should be fine. let us know how things are going.
