been receeding over the last 2-3days. i added some frags to the tank on sunday and everything was fine

i added 2 sheets of window screening to the top of the tank on tuesday to acclimate the corals to light and the clam seems like it has been excessivly closed up. looks almost gapping. now today it is receeded into the shell about 1/4" or so and it is only open about 1/4" max. it looks TERRIBLE

a frag fell 2 days ago right behind it and i moved the clam a little to get it. it has 1/4 a clam shell beneath it to have it attach to. that moved a little.

it has been in the tank 2months or so and added 1/8-1/4" of new growth since then...looked perfect!

any suggestions? i don't want to loose it

Have you checked all chem. readings? How about checked for pyramid snails? Any fish like blennies or angels?

SG - 1.026
ALk - 9.7dKH
phosphate 0.00-0.03

there are NO fish in there. they were removed for ich treatment. i never see my shrimp even remotely close.

i looked at the picture i took on the first and he looks FINE!! perfect....so two days now (pic was taken at 8am...but i think that he looked bad later that day.

i'm gonna pull him out and look to see if anything fell in him

not sure what else you want to know

well he is dead...dead...dead...dead. :( :( :(

i picked him up to see if anything was in it...and the clam didn't respond. and it looked gaped so i looked inside...there was BARELY anything in there...looks like everything was shriveld up.

i pulled the clam apart and got some pics of the inside of the clam....i will post them later if need be.

anyone know what would cause a clam to die w/in 2days??? w/ no signs?

sorry for your loss- any chance of byssal damage when it was moved? what a bummer...

My thoughts exactly. After I added my Derasa to my tank, he apparently liked the very first place I put him. He rooted his foot in one day.

Very sorry for your loss. Such beautiful creatures.

well when i pulled him out there was a thread about 3-4" long that was attached to the rock that was that far from him. i was rooting around close to there the night i snagged the fallen frag...wonder if that had anything to do w/ it

yeah really really sucks. growth growth growth...one day recession and the next pretty much dead
