Help select setup for 120 gallon reef tank

I am on the verge of buying a Vortech pump for my 120 gallon reef tank but i would like to know how effective the setup would be with just the one pump and controller setup. I already have nearly 3000 gph from two Iwaki pumps on a closed loop and another 3500+ gph from my Tunze pumps (non controllable). I am after something that can mix things up a little and create almost a surge across the tank without buying a large wave box. The idea being this will also interact with my current flow and cause a more chaotic water movement.

Any suggestions please.

I would start by adding one MP40 model. When the WWD hits Australia in December, you can then upgrade your pump to be controllable and get the pulsing action that you desire. I don't believe you will get a wave in a 120 with just one VorTech, however I suspect once you try the unit out that you will be impressed enough to consider getting rid of the closed loop and other pumps and adding a second VorTech.

With two MP40w models on a 120 you should be able to get a wave going.
