Help setting up a softie/LPS 10g

My question is about filtration. I would like to use a HOB filter (such as the Whisper Power Filter). I will be changing 1g of water everyday and I plan to use that as my main control of the tank. I have a phosban reactor, but I'd like to know if that would be something I should use. Would it be overkill? I feel that it would work well with the 1g water changes.

I would like to keep mainly softies and LPS. The only SPS I desire is a red monti, and I would like to take a shot at keeping a gorgonia. The only fish will be a black ocellaris (and maybe a pink band goby for a buddy for my pistol shrimp?).

Also, would it be a better idea to do .5g water changes everyday instead of 1g? I know how sensitive small tanks are and I don't want to keep the tank in perma-cycle.

Thanks for the advice! :)

Welcome to RC, Lumi!

I am trying to keep a 15g healthy using pretty much the same principles you mentioned. I have maybe 10-11g of water in the tank, change out two party cups worth of water daily, and use a Whisper filter with carbon and a very small amount of gfo. So far, so good - you can check out my thread here in the nano forum for ideas and to see what concerns I encounter. Good luck with your project!

Well im not an expert, but i think a .5 - 1 gallon a day will be ok .. i only do a water change on my two nano and pico tanks once a week and then it's 25 - 50% depending on my water checks.

With that .. Welcome to RC :)
