ok i just built my self a sump and made room for a macro tank about 10gallons. not sure how to set up a real macro tank.
prease advise on the subtrate, macro tipe and other stuff included.
also for light set ups i have a couple, 32w 50/50 pc, or 96w 50/50
quad pc or 70w hqi 10,000k.
what light would be best or convined for the macro tank.

Hey reef krazy,

Do you want to grow algae for food for your display tank or do you want this tank plumbed into your main tank so the algae can help remove nutrients from the water? Chaetomorpha and Caulerpa are good algae for nutrient removal. Ulva is a good feed algae. The more light the better so if you have a 70w HQI lying around I would definately use it.

I would use a thin layer of crushed coral, a layer or live rock rubble, or nothing at all.

I LIVE IN MIAMI AND QUITE A FEW OF MY FRIENDS HAVE SAND OR MUD IN THE REFUGE'S WITH THEIR MACRO. IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG WITH USING SAND OR MUD>? I NOTICED YOU DIDNT MENTION THEM

The other benefit of having a fuge is all the pods / critters it produces. Crushed coral / rubble creates lots of surface area for critters to grow.
