Help Setting up Reef Tank

I'm starting my first reef tank and my skimmer is coming tomorrow or the next day. If anybody lives near Westlake Village and would be willing to come over and help me make sure it's setup correctly, I would really appreciate it. I can provide lunch and beer (assuming you're of age). :)

I don't have a sump so I ended up buying the Aquamaxx HOB-1. I'm pretty sure it won't be too hard, but I've seen quite a few posts about changing the height to get better results. I'm not too confident on what I should be looking for, so I probably won't know if I need to adjust things.

If you set it low you will get more 'water' which means you are essentially wet skimming. The higher you set it will make there be less funky/dirty water to toss out, and that would be known as dry(er) skimming. I like to go on the dryer side since you don't want to be tossing too much tank water out all the time. It takes longer for the waste to collect but that's a trade off that you live with.

I use a aquamxx hob-1 also on my jbj 28 work real good easy to set up just let it break in and you're good

I live pretty close (Simi valley) and could swing by sometime next week. If u replace beer with a juicy cup MxRider might come as well.

I live off lost hills rd. I will gladly help.

If you're only running a HOB it should be an easy setup. I just set up my 50 with a Warner marine H2 HOB.

I will call ya.

I'm impressed at all the advice and offers to help I got. Thank you!

The tracking info says the package is out for delivery right now, so I'll try to set it up using the YouTube video as a guide. If things don't go well, I'll let you know.
