Help Shipping a 90 Gallon

I have found a 90 gallon AGA tank that I want to buy... I have no way to go pick it up myself, so I am thinking of having FedEx pick it up for me... My question is: Has anyone ever had an aquarium shipped by FedEx or UPS?

I figure that these things have to be shipped all over the place, every day of the week! Please give any info you can... I really want to get this tank because it is a good deal, and it is reef ready... I already have one but I do not want an external overflow!

I do believe that my 55 gallon acrylic was shipped via UPS.

My 180 acrylic was shipped by a freight company; I believe it was Southeastern Freight. It came on a pallet and luckily where I worked at the time we had a forklift to get it off the semi. (although it really wasn't too heavy for 2 people.)

All i'll say is it won't be a good deal after the shipping costs. It will be quite a bit > $100 UPS imo, easily. Especially if its a far shipment.

The size and weight of a tank will kill you in shipping costs. AGA does ship them every day, but they are shipping them by the truckload, keeping the cost down. Shipping one tank by UPS will probably cost more than the tank.

I checked on it through fedex, estimating that the tank weighs 100 lbs... 60 bucks ground shipping

I really cant remember what I paid for my non- RR tank, but I am pretty sure it was around 300 from the LFS, so this aint a bad deal @ $125 plus the shipping... NO?

yes, shipping will bve rediculus. I just shipped a 72" light fixture via UPS, they charged me $73 (it was cross country) and that didn't include any packaging. The shipping calculator said it would $34, but I was off by 5lbs. After packing it very well with bubble wrap and styrofoam the buyer said it was broken. I told them to put fragile signs over it and apparantly they never did. *******s. Do Not Use UPS!
