Ok here is the run down I have a 125 sitting empty and the wife wants to get it set up (and willing to share expenses) I also have a 37 reef with a sebae anemone, open brain coral, leathers, dersa clam, mushrooms, ect ect ect .... however we only have room for 1 tank and well nemo has been in there for 4.5 yrs as well as the anemone and my daughter is pretty attached to them. where the problem is that she wants a Angel Fish like either a french, blue face or emperor, ect... what do I do? I want a reef. Any advise anyone?

You really need to explain to them that there are plenty of reef safe fish to choose from and give them some other options. Show them a Live Rock Fish Only tank and then a Reef tank and ask what they would prefer. You can get an Angel that sometimes will not take out your corals, but that is typically about a 1 in 25 to 1 in 50 chance of that happening.

95 percent of the time, if they say a fish is not reef safe, then it is not reef safe and you will have problems. I had a beautiful Dori, just a gorgeous fish and I loved it a lot after having it for 3 years, but it took a liking to all my beautiful Zoa's. I will never get a blue tang again and that is a reef safe fish, so you never know what your going to get. My next reef tank will be 100% reef and there will only be 100% reef safe fish. It cost to much money for the beautiful corals we strive to raise and grow to allow a fish to destroy it all.

Good Luck in your decision, they may choose a Live Rock Fish Only Tank.

I hate to say it, but the wife will probably win this battle =P

Maybe you can talk her into letting you have a smaller tank for the clown and anemone and you can sell the corals that dont fit?

I think you are right on that one.

I have a bicolor angel and a flame angel in my reef and they don't bother any of my corals. They have eliminated all of the hundreds of spirobid worms I had in my tank but I don't care. They would make a nice substitute for the larger angelfish.

I would be pretty bummed to have to go from reef to fish only. She'll owe you big time!!
