I would treat him for 7 days. If at 7 days, he have not deflated for 3-4 days then it is OK to place back to DT. Don't stop treatment too soon. See my thread of the Blue gig that I treated. Stop too soon and I am not sure if I can save him now.
If he continue to deflates with cipro then change antibiotic and treat for at least 7 days with the new antibiotic.
