Help tonight on Leopard Wrasse Quarantine?

I have a new fish coming in the AM and my quarantine tank is bare bottom, I know the fish that is coming in is a digger, my question that I need to finish up tonight is:

Can I get away with running a plastic container full of sand? I would rather not fill the tank with sand???

I spoke to Live Aquaria Directly and they advised me that a plastic container with sand would be fine for a Lennardi. However, Save the sand from the QT for a later date and do not put it back into the display.
