Help w/ Digital Rebel XT

I got a new Digital Rebel XT (Christmas) and was wondering what is the best way and lense to use for taking pictures of coral and polyps.

I think that, overall, you're going to be unhappy with the macro abilities of that lens. I have the 100mm f2.8 Macro and it's really nice but it's spendy. Sigma and Tamron have some nice macro lenses in that range that produce good pictures an are more affordable.

I'm using the sigma 105 macro . Great lens for the price !;)

My pictures come out tack sharp . I do want to upgrade to the canon 100 though , for focus speed reasons .

Couple of samples .This says a lot about the lens because my skills arn't all that great .

My workhorse lens is the Sigma 180mm. The tripod mount makes setting up vertical and horizontal shots a breeze. The metal body takes alot of abuse and it makes very nice images. I also have a Tamron 90mm macro and it also takes wonderful pictures. The working distance of the 100 mm will come in handy for you......Jim Z.
