Hello, like its says, I have been trying to ID this guy. It has split from one to about 20 over the last couple years.

They have a disk of about 3in and about as tall.

Foot is blinding neon green.

Any ideas?

It's probably a variety of E. Quadricolor, or BTA. The ones that split more often also stay smaller on average. That is unusually small though, and I've never seen a bright green base, but they do come in several other colors. If they are getting crowded you should consider selling some. To me. :D

ok, just gotta figure out how to get them on different rocks.

i have heard pile rubble, then point a powerhead at them?

I seem to remember some anemones like that a few years ago with the bright fluorescent green/yellow base. If I remember correctly they were a deeper water species from Japan. They were not clownfish host anemones. Sorry I can't be more specific than that.

Interesting! Just when I think I'm finally getting a good rounded knowledge base, there comes another something I've never heard of before.

Yes, that will usually work. You can also set a medium/large rock so that it leans on one, and it will crawl out from under it. Just be sure to prop it so the rock doesn't crush them! Good luck! Very cool nems!

Hate to bring the bad news but those look like majano anemones to me....They look really cool with blue lights but they are pest anemones

That was my first thought too, but it is unlikely. Majanos never reach 3 inches in size. They also reproduce way more often than 5 or 6 times "over the last couple years" in a healthy tank, unless it is an ultra-low nutrient system.

I thought Majanos too, but I did not want to bias anyone's opinion. It has a form much like other ones ID'd around the net (but there are often conflicting).....

One factor is size? Do majanos reach a size of 3in x 3in? Then split and remain the same size......seems like majanos I've seen start small, like they have a different mechanism for repoduction, or just split tiny buds.

Color, has anyone seen a majano with neon green base?

I have also noticed there seem to be any signs of nematocysts (sp?) stinging adjacent corals.....

Any more info or a good technical reference would be greatly appreciated!
