Howdy, folks. I posted this in the invert section, but it was suggested I try here. Thread linked below:

Need some help to diagnose this:

Hmm I don't think its something to worry TOO much about. Sometimes my RBTA has some bubble tips and others not. Don't know about how BTA's spawn or where they keep their eggs and what they look like. But beautiful anemone though!!

Eggs? AFAIK, anemones spawn by fission, but I'd be interested in learning about a sexual process.

Perhaps we're not looking at the same thing. I'm referring to the bloated, distended tip in the center, a bit in the background of the photo.

i have the same kind of tip on my rose i would love to know what causes it also. but to me it just looks almsot like the tenticle itself is trying to split in half to me. but im just guessing like i said i would love to know too so keep me updated

In some of the more translucent RBTAs you can see eggs and their associated connective tissue inside the anemone's column. Occasionally, you can also see "loose" eggs inside the tentacles. there are no eggs to be seen in the picture above.

Here are eggs as seen inside a RBTA column:

And here you can see some a little clearer in a severely damaged clone (which survived, BTW). The eggs are greenish ovoids:

FWIW,

Anemone posted some awesome pictures of bta's with eggs, so that hopefully answers the first question. As for the mass in the center, is that coming from its mouth, or somewhere else?

the mass on my anemone which looks just like that is a tenticle with the tip huge and blown out and looks like it is splitting almost. but it is the nearest tenticle to the anemones mouth and that side of the anemoen isnt as big and open as the other side is. btw this is on a big 8inch rbta
