Help ...water problems!!!!

Hi There..I will be bald soon from pulling hair out over a water problem!
I use a Spectrapure 4 stage RODI unit...
Cartridges and membrane all freshly changed.
TDS is ZERO - confirmed with 3 different tds meters...

Is it possible to still have PHOSPHATE in ZERO TDS water?

THanks for your help.

My opinion only:

With a properly functioning spectrapure 4 stage RO unit, using spectraure filters, you should have 0 phosphates in your output water.

I have a maxcap 180 high efficiency. I'll link my RO ICP test results shortly.

My tap water is very low TDS to start, ~16. My TDS after RO is 0 and after DI is 0

RO water - Disregard the Zinc reading. My tank water measured 0.

measuring PO4 in Zerot TDS water

measuring PO4 in Zerot TDS water

How do you measure PO4 in ZERO TDS water?
I am told hobby grade test kits cannot measure such purified water?

WhenI tested my Zero TDS water I got over .300 PO4

The Hanna ULR test reacts with the phosphorous. As far as I know, the TDS should have no bearing on this reaction. Your Hanna tester, and all other tests, should be able to detect P04 in your RO water at the levels you are measuring.

Your TDS meter likely can not detect that small amount. Even the best are +/- 1 ppm.

I agree that a properly functioning 4 stage RODI should get your water to zero TDS. I would suspect contamination in the holding vessel or the DI cartridge is exhausted, not firmly packed or not seated properly.

zero tds

zero tds

So...even though 3 different tds meters show zero tds you believe
that the tds still might not be zero and thus the PO4 reading?
That makes sense to me if that is what your suggesting?

Thx

slica?

slica?

I am wondering if I use the Spectrapure SILICA DI cartridge if I would
get a better result?

Could this be a silica problem that the current DI cartridge cannot fix?

holding vessel

holding vessel

The holding vessel for the RO is a spotless glass aquarium.
THe holding vessel for the fresh mixed salt is a spotless glass aquarium

SO...that leaves DI cartridge?

How much water have you made through the DI cartridge?

Also, did you test your RO water with the Hanna URL? If this reads 0, I believe your issue is with the salt mix.

You really only need the silica buster for water supplies with high silica. This would not affect your issue with PO4

i'm not sure if the hanna phosphorus meter will work in fresh water. I have used it on my ro/di water and did get a small reading....

I suspect that the phosphate kit is the problem here. Is that 0.03 ppm phosphate? Which unit are you using? I would try measuring directly from the RO/DI output, no storage, just as a sanity check.
