What are your parameters? Nitrate, phosphate? Your current stock? Do you have any flow in those areas where the algae is?

Not really an algae it is cyanobacteria. Remove it when you do a water change and then make sure you clean everything, filters, sump, tank walls etc. You need to keep your tank as clean as possible and test your water.

I have used a product called chemiclean (an antibacterial) to get rid of it but you still have to do your tank maintenance to keep it from coming back. Not sure how chemiclean affects corals hopefully someone else will give you that answer.

Flow is good- actually can be too much sometimes as I have one those fancy vortechs.

Just did a test and here's what I have:
Ph 8.2
Am, nitrate and nitrite - 0
Cal - 380
Kh- 5 or 6
Phosphate - 0

I only had one fish- a firefish but he is either hiding or he kicked the bucket. He does hide a lot though and I've thought he was dead before only to resurface in a few days.

I have some snails, hermits, a small red starfish, a pistol shrimp.

The rest are corals and and two scoly's.

Very frustrated. If its cyano, which it could be, where does it come from and how do I get rid of it???

Have tried fighting it in the past but don't recall anything like this.

Thanks
