Help- what to do with fish and corals??

I jsut had my biocube go down. Something happened to the pump and I couldn't find a new one to fit in the back.

I just took the fish and corals out and put them in buckets. I have a 40b that has been cycling for a few weeks now.
Current readings are:
Ammonia: .25
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 20ppm

The tank is barebottom right now- I was considering adding gravel and letting it go through a mini-cycle. Now i can't

Is it safe to just add the fish and corals into the tank? Should I reuse the tank water or jsut do a 25% water change on the 40b and start anew?

Have you tested that 40b for anything else other than mentioned? I would also look at the phosphates and dKH.

Others will chime in soon.

Ammonia at that level is dangerous if it's a true test result. What kit did u use for testing ammonia?
We need more information on ph salinity alk call mag phosphate etc to determine if that 40b can handle the corals but with 0.25 ammonia (if true) not a good idea.

No. No ammonia. Lethal. You can use Prime to knock it back, but I fear it might interrupt the cycle. Read the label carefully, and it might give you some false-reading problems from now on. IF however it is a choice between problems later and fish dying now, go ahead, use the Prime and save them. Corals don't care about ammonia the way fish do. It's nitrates (which fish tolerate) that corals can't stand. Prime won't hurt the corals: follow directions and test.
OTOH, if you WANT to preserve the cycling activity of the destination tank, go to Home Depot and get a 32 gallon Brute trashcan, rinse it, and fill it with proper new salt water, which you may be able to buy from your fish store. Warm it, then move everybody over there with a circulation pump and heater.

Imo i wouldn't put the the fish or corals in the tank, especially the tank only been running for a few weeks. Let the fish & corals sleep over a friend's established tank for know till yours is done cycling. Keep checking your parameters
