I woke up this morning to find my purple long tentacled anemone disconnected from the rocks and free floating. He was fully expanded and floating with the currents. I manged to grab him and gingerly placed his base on the rocks, he seemed to connect fine, when I returned from work he must of discunnected and was in one of my powerheads. I think he will be ok.
Question is why would he do that, is this a sign of sickness???

it is a sign of unhappiness. Most likely it is because you are putting a LTA on rockwork. They prefer a 4" or greater sandbed.

thanks, once I can free him from the powerhead, I will try the sandbed..Any ideas how to free him from the powerhead? His base is in the powerhead opening, I can not pull him out of it, I am just going to let him free himself

That's the best solution. Just turn off the powerhead and wait a day or so.

You should try and protect your anemone from the intakes of your powerheads and overflow.

Some LTA's like to put their foot under a rock and in the sand... Waterflow might be too much aswell... Never seen a LTA stay on a rock before...

doh... I forgot some people call H. crispa LTA. I was assuming that you meant M. doreensis which are sand dwellers. H. crispa usually live on the sand as well but some will attach to rocks if poorly lit. With 500w or Mh on a 90 I would think you have enough light to let an H. crispa attach in the sand as well.

Sounds like too much flow. Mine was drifting around so I cut the flow way back. But mine's in a fuge that doesn't have much flow. Mine finally got settled in after about four months of going all over the fuge. I think mine's happy now. I have pics
