Last night 10PM

Alk 7.5 dKH
Cal 460

Added 90 ml of alk part only.

Today 2:00

Alk 8.5 dKH

added 60 ml of alk part only.

I'm going to conclude that my Calcium part is to strong and not balanced. As my calcium seems to have stayed very high. I will dilute it by 20%.

Is their any way by mixing X of my calcium part with Y of RO water to determine if it is balanced.

UPDATE

I've been noticeing that I have been what appeared to be inaccurate tests. The test didn't change colours instantly like it used to. The test I was using was a Nutrafin.

So today I picked up a Salifert ALK test kit. I took the readings and had to use 1.27 ml of the regeant to get it to change colours. Now my scale only goes up to 1ml. So in actual fact when me Nutrafin test kit was measuring 8.5 dKH the salifert was measuring > 16dKH.

Precipitation is usually a combination of High PH and High alkalinity levels. The issue is that precipitation lowers both values after it happens so it is usually difficult to identify that in reality both are happening but if there is precipitation then too much alkalinity is beimg supplemented.
The easiest way to avoid it is to switch to recipe 2 which will not increase PH. Otherwise reduce the amounts addedand keep reducing them until precipitation no longer ocurr. This si difficult to do because it is difficult to resist not supplementing when the values apear to be low.
 
But high PH is not necessarily needed to get precipitation. I had it in my tank but my ph is usually in the 8.0 to 8.18 range. I was dosing Randy's 2 part number 1 formula and full strength kalkwasser. The main tank is what really gave it away. For months the main tank looked fine but the sump was covered in it. I thought it was natural. One day I noticed a fine powder like white substance that was hard to remove on the inside of the main tank, (coupled with the fact that I had to clean my pumps every 2 weeks) which finally led me to conclude I had a massive precipitation event that was ongoing.

Switching to Randy's 2 part number 2 formula helped a lot.

So I have been obviously overdosing my tank with the two part. I seem to bee off the chart in Zone 1. Which I guess is not that bad. I'll just keep testing and wait for them to come back into the correct area for each.

So as I take it my numbers are as follows. Using the new Salifert Alk test kit. and the Nutrafin Caclium test kit. I am going to buy a Salifert Cal test kit soon.

19.6 dKh
460 Cal.

I don't believe that I ever had any precipitation it appeared as I did because of the test kit I was using was way off.

Normally not in the short term but if you see any signs of stress or if you want to reduce the chance of precipitation in the pumps just do a water change.
 
I did my weekly 12% water change.

I know have an alk of 16.3 dHk.

I did not measure my calcium.

Looking good and comming down. one or two more days and will be in a position to star dosing normally.
 
How is the calcium? Seems you are ready to start dosing again, bu tracking your consumption you will need around 30 to 35 ml/day. I would recommend starting at 25 ml and test and adjust from there.

Perfect, The first dose make it 125 ml of the calcium part and 25 ml of the alkalinity part That will bring the Calcium up to 420 and keep the alkalinity. After that try 25 ml/day of each and test alkalinity to see if it stay at the same level, adjust up or down if necessary.
