Help with a red carpet

Yeah, sort of poop. Is his mouth still open? How long have you had him now? Dont try to feed him anymore, dont change anything, untill you see that he is comfortable, mouth closed, expanding towards the light, reacts to movement around him (a fish gets to close or something and he reacts).

DONT TOUCH HIM, he will go were he wants to, but if you keep moving him, you will either tear his foot, or he will never feel comfortable. In both cases will end up in his demise.

2dawghouse thanks for the info. I've had him for 3 weeks now and yes his mouth is still open. I will take your word one this, everyone pretty much has told me the same thing. How can he go without eating? Also in like 2 months I will be moving everything from a 75 to a 105 do you think he will be alright?

What a gorgeous carpet! I used to have a plain dingy brown carpet that hosted a pair of cinnamons. I got rid of the whole sheebang when I went to a nano. Reading this thread makes me want to get another for my black and white percs. Was considering a long tenacled but wow what a nice carpet! BTW, my carpet never opened his mouth that wide. But feeding it was fun! It never ate any fish, I gave it silver sides and oyster meat.

CheckitOut, can you post a recent pic of his mouth and lets compare to see if it is getting worse. He can go a while without food, he also might get food from your feedings of the tank. Right now he just needs to acclimate without being bothered. Is he still moving around the tank? Moving him to a new tank will all depend on how well he is doing at the time. Remember if/when you move him he will have to have another acclimation period. It is difficult to tell about moving him in 2 months, espcially without seeing him first hand. Right now lets get him comfortable in his current tank.

The tank that yuo move it to needs to be stable! Any thing gos out of wack and it can certinly stress him out. But as 2dawg said after the first few week and its still hanging on say someting! Good luck!

I know that everyone tells me that he will move where he likes to go but he really has never moved around without me moving him which I haven't in a while. So i've heard both, so does or does they not like alot of water flow?

IME, Haddonis do not like a lot of direct flow. You can have a lot of flow in the tank, but not directly on them.

O ok good. I'm about the set up a 105 sps domiant tank with Vortech powerheads, so thats what I was concerned about. Thanks.

In my 58 I have on Sure Flow MJ mod, and 2 SEIO 820s, plus my return. The SPS are doing great, and I have things angled as to not bother the Haddonis.

All of mine put their foot like that by themselves.

IME, haddonis don't like a lot of direct flow, mine were unhappy if their oral discs were being lifted up a majority of the time.

thanks for posting that link!! great food!!!
