Help with brain and update (pics)

Here is a update on the brain I was trying to save from the pet shop.

Hes colored up and almost always puffy

Here is the brain I am having trouble with. I had him on his side and I think thats what caused it. The tissue on the side thats receding is the side he was on. I stood him up now so he isn't on his side as much. What do you guys think? Oh one more thing is there anyway to keep the goby spitting sand on him, its like hes marking his territory?

I dont really have any advice, but it looks like youve really turned that thing around.......way cool!

I have been feeding him pretty good, about 3-4 times a week.
