Help with brand new Angel - PICS

So I went looking for a Majestic Angel tonight. I couldn't tell the difference between a juvi Koran and Majestic while in the store so I asked one of the guys in there and they said it was a Majestic. So after this juvi was bagged he went to ask the owner the price and it was then identified as a Koran. The owner showed me the adults that he had and I picked the smallest one. I looked over the Koran juvi real good and even saw it eating. After the confusion, I didn't give the adult much of a lookover and purchased it. After getting it home and realizing this, I called the shop, after hours, and spoke with one of the owners. He said he would guarantee the fish, just to keep an eye on it for a day or two.

My question is, is this something that I missed while it was in the tank or is this something that could have happened during the netting process and the drive home? I really want to keep it, but don't want an injured fish introduced into my tanks.

Is this something that it will eventually get over or is it blind for life?

Should I even introduce it into my quarantine tank which already had a watchman goby and a scooter blennie?

Any help would be much appreciated! It is eating.

I let him out of the bag in to the 12G nano. The nano is my QT tank, so no, this isn't his permanant home. Here is another pic.

Hi,
I would assume your talking about the cloudy eye?
It's a bacterial infection and needs to be treated.

Yes, I am talking about the cloudy eye. I hate to think I missed something like that at the LFS so I am leaning toward an injury during the netting process or the ride home. Should I get a hospital tank and treat with MelaFix/Pimafix or Maracyn or just wait it out?

His skin pigment is back to normal and eating like a pig. Thanks

Okay, he is in a hospital tank by himslelf. The only thing I could find today was Maracyn Saltwater. I will hit another LFS tomorrow and pick up some plus. So far, I don't consider this to be a parasite, so I am going to stay away from copper for the time being. Thanks!

fish is sick treat it with copper, make sure to use copper test.

Why would you treat with copper?.

You are going about everything the right way. With the maracyn is should clear up in a few days.
Very pretty fish as well:)

Good luck

I have been treating with the original Maracyn. I went to a very reputable LFS today and they told me they recomend the more natural Melafix. Is it okay to mix the two or should I do a 75% water change if I decide to switch to Melafix?

IMVHO Melafix is a placebo.

I dont know why they'd suggest that med, it never works. Ask if they've tried it. I'm sure they haven't and just want to sell the stuff before it goes bad.

Do water changes and treat. Feed frozen varied foods. I would not have put the fish into a 12 gallon no matter what, that's too small a volume to medicate safely in with that size and species of fish. Doesnt matter know i guess.

FWIW, the fish is in a 20G long hospital tank and will end up in a 75g display. No,they don't sell Melafix because every Petco and Petsmart does. They were speaking from experience.

Do NOT use copper for popeye. This often is the results of injury due to netting. One reason I avoid catching fish in nets. If the eye wasn't cloudy then I would suggest just a water change and wait. The swelling of the eye often goes down in a few days without meds. Since the eye is cloudy, I would use Maracyn-Two at the double dose (like the first day) each and every day for 5 to 7 days. You can change some of the water each day before adding the meds. Maracyn (one) is mostly ineffective, but Maracyn-Two is a good choice for eye infections. If Melafix works then you probably didn't need a medicine (doesn't do much).
