help with bubbles

My mag 24 miraculous started workign today so my tank is up and running, however I have tons of bubbles coming from my drains from the tank into the sump and due to the amount there is no way for the baffles (especially since i don't really have any on the fuge side to staop the bubbles form returning into the tank. Any idea why this is occuring, do I need to drill a hole or something in the pipes above water level so air can escape or something.

you more than likely have an air leak now, that is why there are micro bubbles. I do not know how your plumbing is run, but that is my guess. Driling holes will more than likely make it worse.
Why dont you come pick up some cheato from me to stop the bubbles? Or rubberband a foot section of pantyhose on the end of the return

cheato might work for the fuge size. I actually do have small 250 micron bags rubberband to the ends of all the pipes. I am using megaflow stand pipes

try some pantyhose-you have to have some with runs laying around??. I have plenty of cheato, just PM me and bring a bucket.

would that mean your water level in your sump is too high if the baffles can't stop it? how are your baffles set up?

the more that I look at the pics, you have alot of air getting in someplace-the bags are not stopping the bubbles because they are big-try the hose.

I like MCDs BB with hot sauce for the free cheato

would a ball valve on the overflow help? slow down the flow of the water rushing into the sump?

Any restriction on the drain side is a bad idea, would be better to Tee off the mag and not push as much water through the overflow, redirect some of it around the sump. A mag 24 pushes a lot of water for those mega flows to handle.

I have the tee off the mag to redirect flow, still not helping. I was having the same situation even with two quietone 3000 hooked up which don't push as much as the mag 24. Maybe I went with too large of piping from tank to sump. I have 1.25" pvc piping for that and 3/4 flexible piping for the return since those are what fit on the bulkheads that were with the tank.

How many baffles in sump? And how are they setup?

I have three baffles from the skimmer into the return section, It seems to be stopping most the bubbles but not sure if all of them seeing as there are tons coming in from the two pipes on that side. Most bubble were coming t return from refugium side that only has the teeth, no othr baffles.The pantyhose seems to be doing the trick for the most part. Got some cheato from mayoboy.

Steph...is it possible the mag24 is cavitating and causing the bublles inside the pump?

slow the flow of the return pump to much water is going threw the sump add a ball valve on the output of the pump


mag 24 2400GPH the over flow are rated for 600-700GPH each

are the overflows making any noise?
