Help with Candy Cane Coral

This is a broad question but I need help with this coral. It's tentacles have not yet come out after a month of owning this coral. I purchased it from a lfs and it has not yet shown anything. It also does not look the healthiest to me either.

What are your parameters i.e.(Alk, Ca, and Mg). My Red Trumpet always had it's tentacles come out about 3-4 hours after lights out, meaning I never saw them because my lights go out at 10pm, so I am well sleep when they decide to come. I stayed up one night late and saw them fully extended. IME, I have never saw mines come out with lights on, feeding or not. it's still growing.

My light come on at 10:00 a.m. and I feed the tank at 10:30 and my canes have their tentacles out and waiting like they know food is coming.

Mine only pull theirs out at night with the lights out. Also, have you target fed them? They tend to like that. One more thing would be flow. They don't like too much flow at all.

Thank you for the responses. I can get mine to eat although I have to turn everything off and they will slowly consume the food over about 10 minutes. I usually check them at night but still no tentacles come out. I also have a good amount of zoas in my tank and they are doing great. About 3-4 new heads per week.

Also I just got my water tested by my lfs and everything turned out at normal levels. I use a two part additive as well. I'm not too worried about the one in the picture above but I thought I'd see what everyone had to say since I have never had these before.

It looks OK though never extending it's feeder tentacles is not a good sign long term.

I find low alk or low mag can make Caulastrea grumpy.

My Kryptonite Caulastrea put out their feeders in the day when I add food and all night every night.

My candy cane coral didn't extend its tentacles until I moved it to a lower part of my tank. Less light and less flow. Since, it has grown well and the tentacles come out now.

I just placed mine slightly lower in the tank and a little bit out of the direct flow to see if that helps. I'll post later how it reacts to this.

My neon yellow candy cane is in medium light medium/high flow and is growing very fast. Typically they have no polyp extension during the day but will sometimes throw a tentacle out there if I am broadcast feeding something tasty.

Pretty fast especially on the new tank. I started with 3 heads and I probably have 20 plus now. It's been in the new tank for 3 months now and it's probably grown at least 5 new heads
