help with diatoms

I know i am beating a dead horse on the subject of diatoms, but have to ask. How do i get rid of this? It is so annoying and don't know where to start. Thanks in advance

How old is your tank? Diatoms are just a normal part of any system in the beginning, but as the tank matures they usually go away on their own. Just keep using that Mag-Float on the glass and be patient. GL.

Time and less light. Keep your lighting schedule to 8-12 hours, I more stay around 8-10.

Are they bad or just a small amount in a new tank? That is supposed to be normal and will go away by itself I believe

My tank is fairly new and I have been fighting them too. GFO, water changes and less light. If it gets to a point where it's really bad then go ahead and do lights out for 3 days. It cleared my whole tank up

Tank is about 4 months old. It has been about two weeks i have been trying tom keep it a bay. Should i leave it alone? I have been turning sand with a make shift sand rake and blowing the rocks with baster. Is that ok to do?

Tank is still young. Mine is 8 months now, my last bloom was Bout 2 months ago. I still expect the possibility of a bloom for up tonthe tank being 1 year.

What do you have for a CuC? My issue with stir and blow is you risk starting a mini cycle in a young tank. Honestly I say leave it be, a couple weeks from now it will be mostly gone.

Mostly snails, maybe I need to up what I have and possibly a diamond goby to help stir sand bed?

All the diatom in my tank just gone few days ago. They have been in my tank for 3 weeks time. It really annoyed. What I do, just leave it and buy some Turbo snail and sand shifting starfish to help me clean it up. I didn't turn the light off, just let it run 8 hours a day. Besides, I had gone through bryopsis algae bloom in my tank during diatom bloom. But now, everything settle down. Bryopsis gone, diatom gone. =D

I would avoid a starfish. Once they eat themselves out of house and home they will bury themselves and die of starvation. Starfish don't normally do well in a reef tank.

I would go lights out as mentioned above and wet skim while lights out and a week there after.
