Help with DIY stand

I am going to reply to myself here :p I think you should do 2 uprights in each corner with one in each corner between the long and parallel to the floor 2x4's. THis way the weight will be on solid wood and not just support by screws.
 
The most important thing is for the 2x4's to be under the frame so they are supporting the weight (like smartwrasse said). I do not think you have to have the 3rd leg like I did. Your skin should add enough lateral stability. I would use something thicker like at least 1/2". Mine is 5/8" and the stand weighs a good 70 lbs. My next stand will not be so overbuilt.
