Help with Euro-reef skimmer, please.

Heyas,
I've tried everything I can to contact Euro-reef with no luck. I'm not sure what I need besides the gate valve assembly to make my CS6-1 have a gate valve mod. I know the gate valve kit obviously ;) But do I need any of the riser pipes to go with it, if so what one????

Also I dont have room in-sump for the skimmer, unless I take over my fuge area which I dont want. Soooo, I have come up with a plan that I'm hoping should work, would just like others input on it.

Scottyc1 told me it is designed to run in 8 inches of water.....
I plan on using a rubbermaid bin...No not yours Linda  ..but one exactly like it. Putting a 1 inch bulkhead thru it at 8 inches from the bottom. Than putting a 3/4 bulkhead above the 8 inch mark just enough to be out of the water. The rubber maid will sit up on a small stool just high enough for the one inch bulkhead to be above the top of my sump tank. OK, now I will have the skimmer pump in my actual sump, hard piped to the 3/4 bulkhead, than connecting to the skimmer inlet on the inside of the rubbermaid(Skimmer body will be in the rubbermaid). The skimmer will drain off into the rubbermaid and overflow out the 1 inch bulkhead, (8 inches from the bottom),back into the sump. That way the skimmer is running in 8 inches of water as it should be, and I dont have to give up my fuge area. I know the design will work for the most part. I'm basically unsure if the stock SP2 skimmer pump can handle pumping overhead like a foot at most and not mess with the skimming. Any input and info is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

Not sure about the riser, but you do need to vent with a straight pipe...no need to be adjustable.

If I understand you correctly.....
I'd just set the rubbermaid remote - water pumped in and drained out at whatever desired rate - then run the skimmer pump from within the rubbermaid.

But I think what you suggested should work though.

Good luck....nice skimmer!

Yeah, I basically wanted to get around needing another pump. I am hoping the euro-reef pump can handle this ok. If not, the other way I could do it w/out a new pump, is to plumb a tee into my tank return line. Having that supply the rubbermaid with water, and the skimmer plus its pump sitting inside the bin. I'd rather not go this route though for the following reason... the flow into the rubbermaid would be slowed, using a ball valve, as I dont want to take much away from the loc-line nozzles in my display. The skimmer would than be skimming the crap out of the water in the rubbermaid, without much water turnover going thru the rubbermaid. I dont think it will skim as effeciantly as taking water right out of the sump going directly to the skimmer. If that makes any kind of sense in anyones head, besides mine. If done the original way I planned, the rubbermaid would be turning over as much water as the skimmer is capable of doing... hahaha So confusing trying to explain this crap online, LOL.
Either way Thanks for the input its much appreciated.
