I got my first favia a couple weeks ago. And was wondering about their lighting. I have a MH 250 with a larg reflector. and a 23 inch tank. It is on the bottom now. How do you know when a favia IS NOT getting enough lighting? And how do you know when a favia is getting TO MUCH lighting? Thanx for all your help.

While not always the case, browning of the coral can suggest not enough light and whitening/transparancy suggests bleaching from too much light. IME favias are LOW light LPS with some even requiring shading under a ledge to color up their best. I would leave it on the sand or on one of the lowest rocks for a week or two. If it does ok there, you can move it up a little at a time (if you wanted it up higher that is
