Help With Favia

Hello,

Was hoping somebody could give me some suggestions, I purchased my first favia probably about a month or two ago, and has looked great ever since I've gotten it, but recently, probably past week or so, has started to lighten up some, you can see it in my avatar, the purple maze part of it is where it is starting to lighten up, the only thing I can think of that I changed is I did up the hours of my MH from 8 hours a day to 9. Other than that I did my normal WC last night and tested and all is good:

Phos. 0
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
PH 8.2
Calcium 420
Alk 10.2
Sal. 1.026

I'm wondering if maybe its not getting enough food. Should I be directly feeding it, if so what do you guys feed yours and at what time, should I be feeding it at night, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Clint

Favia sp. does not require feeding in most circumstances. Feeding can be beneficial in that it provides an energy source for the coral. But I believe they fulfill all of their needs via photosynthesis. In general feeding is okay, but be sure not to compromise water quality. You can try moving it into a slightly lower lit area, or a slightly shaded area. Your water parameters are all okay.

yeah, probably just a lighting issue. You can try moving it to a shadier spot or leave it and see if the color changes to something more interesting, like red & green.

That would be cool, I cut my lights back to the hours I had them set before, I am going to also move it into a shaded area as well as suggested, it just doesn't seem to look as full anymore, kind of like its thinning out to the bone, maybe I'm just paranoid and watching to closely, but guess all I can do is wait, because I don't see what else it could be.
