Help with hammer

I have a large wall hammer that a lobo fell on. It killed a corner of it. It seems that it keeps receding. How do I keep it from continuing to die off? Thanks

I got this hammer 2 days ago for 12$ it had a red slime on it. I scraped it off and it looked like this day oneView attachment 266574

Well I came home this morning and it had slime on the end of it again. So I sucked it off with a baster. And now it's like this

I have only saved 1 of many wall hammers in my rescue attempts. When they receed & The Brown jelly ( slime ) is present. They have a infection. I don't know of anyone to this day that knows the cure to stop this Brown Jelly infection,,,,And you sure don't want any to float over to that Nice Frogspawn pictured in the background...Because it will also Get infected.

Very sensitive to falling or something stinging it, I have always lost my damaged hammers. Good Luck and happy reefing!
