I have a Pink Hammer (the non branching kind) that has just never done well since the day I brought it home. I cannot get it to eat, have moved it all around the tank trying different spots, and it's just slowly receding.
It's in a 20ga, with 4x24watt T5s. Paramters are: Temp 76, pH 8.1, calcium 480 (yes I know a squidge high) alk 11. I have had this tank for almost 7 years and is almost exclusively LPS. I'm using API test kits.
I have two types of frogspawn in there, a multi-colored torch, acans, bubble, platygyria brain and even a 1.5yr old (healthy) Indo Elegance! This is the only coral that has done poorly for me and I'm at a total loss as to why. I picked it up back in November and it's just been unhappy while my other lps thrive. I even have a Crocea in there who is happy as a...( I won't finish the bad punn).
I've tried several iodine dips in Seachem's Coral Disinfectant dip in hopes of killing any internal parasite that may be irritating it.
Please, if anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it! It's a gorgeous coral and I don't want to lose it. It's not brown jelly or anything like that, and there are no real fish in the tank to irritate or eat it. Just a pair of antenna gobies and a pistol shrimp.
Thanks again!
